We are always looking for that great analog gooey-ness to smooth together our harsh digital sounding mixes.

For this library, we utilized the Ampex ATR and Otari MTR tape machines (no emulation) to smash these drums proper. The resulting pack is the most character filled library of samples and loops we have ever created.

It’s no secret that tape machines can produce a ton of low end. This can be especially helpful for drums.

Using competing tape machines, different types of tape, input clipping and variable tape speed, we were able to create some extremely saturated bass drum samples.

Using clipped out shotgun mics, C414 side snare mics, SM57’s and M160 overheads, we dialed in these snare tones to be lush, wonderful and deep.

10 different snares sampled with 10 velocity layers and 3 versions (round robins) of each layer.

Inside of Tape are some very unique sounding loops and samples.

We used animal skinned drums for floor toms, cake pans, African percussion - all to create an extremely dynamic and distinct sample pack.
